From Kalinaw News (Jun 27, 2022): Gov’t forces unearth terrorist arms cache in Zambales



Camp Aquino, Tarlac City – June 26, 2022

Government forces of the 3rd Mechanized Battalion under the operational control of the Joint Task Force, and the Zambales Police Office unearth an arms cache of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) at Sitio Gued-Gued, Brgy Palis, Botolan, Zambales in the afternoon of June 26, 2022.

In a statement, Lt. Gen. Ernesto Torres Jr., Commander of the Northern Luzon Command, revealed that “following the tip provided by a concerned citizen in the area, the troops immediately responded and discovered the terrorist arms cache in the vicinity wherein they discovered the following war materiel: one (1) Cal. 30 M1 Garand rifle; twenty-eight (28) cartridges Cal. 30mm, ball; one (1) Grenade, Hand, MK2, Frag; one (1) Grenade, Hand, M26, Frag; two (2) cartridges, 40mm, HE; three (3) M567 40mm, Buckshot Grenade; one (1) dilapidated 5.56mm M16 rifle upper receiver; subversive documents; one (1) piece Communist Party of the Philippines Flag; food and medical supplies; and personal belongings.”

It can be recalled that another Communist terrorist’s arms cache was also discovered by the 3rd Mechanized Battalion in San Jose, Tarlac last May 30, 2022, wherein they recovered one (1) Galil rifle; two (2) M16 Rifles; one (1) M203 grenade launcher; one (1) Shotgun; one (1) long magazine for Galil; four (4) Short Magazines for M16 rifle; seventy-one (71) pcs of 5.56mm ammunition; and eighteen (18) pcs of 40x46mm grenade launcher ammunition.

Meanwhile, Major General Andrew Costelo, Commander of Joint Task Force Kaugnay, praised the troops’ consecutive successes in their area of operations and at the same time expressed his gratitude to the people for their active participation in sustaining and ensuring peace in this area.

Lt. Gen. Torres stated that “the continuous discovery of CTG arms caches is a way to keep them from slipping through the cracks and performing hostile attacks in the north and central Luzon. This only manifests the nearing end for the CTGs in our area of operations.”

“NOLCOM will remain relentless in our mission as defenders of the north and protectors of the people,” added the NOLCOM Commander.
