CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – In coordination with the 901st Brigade, the 6th Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Reserve Center, AFP Reserve Command (AFPRESCOM), the 6th Technical Administrative Services Bde-EM Reserve and the 7th Air Force Reserve, Philippine Air Force have jointly conducted a medical mission and humanitarian civic action program for the victims of Typhoon Odette on Saturday, March 12 at Sitio Toril, Brgy. Luna, Surigao City.

More than 600 residents mostly children, pregnant women and senior citizens received free medicines, vitamins as well as medical services and relief assistance from the military reservists, which hopefully addressed the health issues that have affected residents, since the onslaught of Typhoon Odette.

Col Oscar Partuza of AFPRESCOM stated, “In line with the Philippine Reservists Act or Republic Act 7077 that mandates reserve units to assist in the conduct of relief and rescue efforts during calamities and in socio-economic development initiatives, the AFP Reserve Command, has mobilized its ranks to fulfill this mandate.”

The activity was also participated by the personnel of the 901st Infantry Brigade, 42nd Civil Military Operations Company (42CMOC), and the 30th Infantry Battalion (30IB) with the full support of the volunteers from Barangay Luna headed by Hon. Rico Nagas.

In addition, civilian medical volunteers headed by Dr. Sherry Mae Dela Serna from CARAGA Regional Hospital, also rendered free medical consultation during the event.

In a statement, Maj. Gen. Wilbur C Mamawag, Commander of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division commended the contribution of the reservists in the continuing relief efforts to our calamity victims.

“We call upon all stakeholders to extend assistance in whatever form. The affected families need every help they could get to recover from the devastation of Typhoon Odette. Rest assured that the 4ID remains committed to partner with you in providing logistical and manpower resources to ensure that relief assistance get to the intended beneficiaries, ” MGen Mamawag said.
