Kalinaw News: Two CTG members surrender to authorities

Posted to Kalinaw News (Oct 12, 2021): Two CTG members surrender to authorities

Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija — Following the surrender of two female members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Dipaculao, Aurora last week, another two former CTG members decided to present themselves to the authorities on October 09, 2021.

Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew P Rubio, Commanding Officer of 91st Infantry (SINAGTALA) Battalion, Philippine Army identified the two as alias ka Omar/Marceal/Akong, of Guerilla front 2 and alias Ka Agnes both residents of Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija.

The surrender was attributed to the intensified security operations of the Army and PNP in its Area of Operations.

Lieutenant Colonel Rubio once again called on the members of the CTG to surrender now and become the government’s partner in community development.

“Again, our doors are open to receive those who are still in the underground movement and facilitate their ECLIP and other necessary assistance from different agencies of the government,” Lieutenant Colonel Rubio said.

On the other hand, the two expressed their desperation to be with their families and live in peace.

“We wanted to be at peace, to live peacefully together with our family. We want a happy family. We sought help from our friends and relatives who in turn coordinated with the military,” they said.

“Nagkaroon pa po kami ng kaaway sa halip na maging mapayapa ang aming pamumuhay. We could no longer bear the violent orders to take down those who oppose the rebellion,” the added.

Meanwhile, the Acting Commander of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, Philippine Army Brigadier General Luis Rex D Bergante PA lauded the two CTG surrenderers for doing the right thing and realizing that attaining peace and progress is not found by joining the terrorist organization.

“We are attributing the influx of surrenders of former CTG members with the intensified peace and security operations of the Army and PNP complemented with the efforts of the MTF-ELCAC addressing the root causes of insurgency through the Whole of Nation Approach. Welcome na welcome pa din ang mga natitirang miyembro ng CTG na sumuko, lumapit lamang sa ating kasundaluhan o kapulisan para kayo ay maalalayan ng maayos,” said Brigadier General Bergante.
