FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army’s (PA) 525th Engineer Combat Battalion (525th ECB) and the Philippine Navy’s (PN) 3rd Naval Combat Engineer Battalion conducted training on combat engineer battlefield functions at the Marine Base Gregorio Lim, Ternate, Cavite on October 13, 2021.

Said training served as a venue for the joint interoperability of the PA and the PN combat engineers, explicitly aiming to support both forces’ operational requirements in combat engineering.

The training focused on the fundamentals of explosive demolition, such as initiating individual priming of explosives, confidence explosives firing using an electric and non-electric system, obstacle breaching, emplacement of wire entanglement, and single and multiple room clearing.

Students and instructors from the ongoing Combat Engineer Squad Operations Training of the 525th ECB also joined the training. Both forces exchanged knowledge and skills through practical exercises.

Meanwhile, Army Chief Lt. Gen. Andres C Centino stressed the importance of joint training in enhancing the capability and interoperability of both forces to confront all threats as they perform their mandate of serving the people under a volatile environment.

“This is an important exercise between the Philippine Army and Philippine Navy that will strengthen our interoperability and preparedness in addressing the ever-changing security situation in the country,” said Lt. Gen. Centino.
