CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Jose Faustino Jr extended his gratitude to the Chinese business group, Philippine Fujian General Business Association (PFGBA), for its generous donation to the military on October 25, 2021.

“The donated items will certainly be of benefit to our troops who work tirelessly on the frontlines and are constantly exposed to a myriad of health hazards. I am truly grateful that our stakeholders in the private sector recognize the hard work and dedication of the AFP during this pandemic,” said General Faustino.

The AFP Chief of Staff led the handover ceremony held at the General Headquarters Canopy area.

Present were Major General Adriano Perez, Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS) for Personnel; Major General Rene Diaz, DCS for Logistics; Brigadier General Gabriel Viray, Acting DCS for Civil-Military Operations; and other senior officers of the GHQ.

From the PFGBA were Mr. Qing Quan Wu, President; Mr. Allan Sio, Vice President; and Mr. Vincent Chan, Secretary General.

The donated items were 6,000 packs of KF94 face masks, 1,000 pieces of face shields, 10 units of air purifier, 20 cases of distilled bottled water, and 1,200 packs of bihon noodles.

The PFGBA Secretary General commended the AFP especially its frontline workers for its continuous operations in mitigating the effects of the pandemic and assisting people in challenging times.

“I trust that despite this hardening COVID19 situation, you [AFP] are relentlessly rendering service to your constituents and even to the people in areas beyond your jurisdiction. Since before and now more than ever, I commend you for taking on the responsibilities of going beyond self for the good of others,” said Mr. Chan.

PFGBA is one of the oldest Chinese business associations in the Philippines located in Binondo, Manila.

The association is composed of groups of micro, small and medium enterprises of Chinese businessmen in the Philippines with more than 4,000 members.

“Acts of generosity truly motivate us in the AFP to persevere in the fight and uphold our sworn mandate to the best of our abilities, especially during this trying time. Rest assured that all the donations will immediately be distributed to our units most in need of these valuable resources,” said General Faustino.
