SAGAY CITY, Negros Occidental — The Commander of 3rd Infantry “Spearhead” Division, Major General Benedict Arevalo confers award to sixteen (16) Masaligan Troopers in a simple ceremony held at 79IB Headquarters, Brgy Bato, Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Friday, October 01, 2021.
Major General Arevalo, assisted by Brigadier General Inocencio I Pasaporte, 303rd Brigade Commander, personally pinned the award of Military Merit Medals with Bronze Spearhead Device to 16 Masaligan troopers for their gallantry and heroic acts during the encounter against ten (10) enemy personalities believed to be the remnants of the dismantled Northern Negros Front on September 30, 2021, which resulted to the neutralization of four (4) enemy personalities; war materials, and voluminous subversive documents of high intelligence value.
In his message, MGen. Arevalo lauded the Masaligan Troopers under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel J-jay T Javines, Commanding Officer for their commitment and dedication in protecting the Negrenses against the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in the area.
He also put emphasis on the morale and welfare of the troops and encouraged the 79IB troops to continue striving for excellence and high degree of professionalism in support of the Local Government Units and other government agencies to attain just and lasting peace and development in Northern Negros.
“Note that we in the higher headquarters do not let your meritorious achievements go unnoticed. We will continue doing this because I believe that people who are appreciated will perform better than expected. Hopefully, this will encourage everyone to perform better and faster”, said MGen. Arevalo.
For his part, Lt.Col. Javines expressed his gratitude to MGen. Arevalo for recognizing the efforts of the troops. “On behalf of the Masaligan troopers, we thank you sir for recognizing our efforts. This will surely serve as an inspiration for us to strive more, not only to win peace but to pave the way for new opportunities to the Negrenses. Rest assured sir that we will always do the extra mile so that 79IB will be loved by the people, but feared by the enemy in this part of the Province.
