From Kalinaw News (May 31, 2021): NPA Terrorists’ High-Powered Firearms Recovered in Sibagat, Agusan del Sur
Sibagat, Agusan del Sur- Troops of the 65th Infantry “Stalwart” Battalion (65IB) recovered war materials after the recent firefight against the terrorist members of the Guerilla Front 21 of North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) on, May 28, 2021, at around 2:40 PM in the hinterlands of Brgy. El Rio, Sibagat, Agusan del Sur.
The firefight which lasted for 30 minutes has no reported casualties on the government’s side, while it remained undetermined among the NPA Rebels’. Recovered in the encounter site were different armaments and other war materials such as AK 47, M16 with attached M203 GL, subversive documents, medical supplies, backpacks, and some personal belongings.
The success of 65IB troopers against the enemy was translated after responding to the persistent report of the concerned residents that the NPAs’ are consistently roaming around the community and these cause fear among them. After the incident, a dialogue was conducted yesterday May 29, 2021, by the 65IB to inform the community that some of the terrorists were wounded during the firefight, and anyone of these wounded might ask for help among the residents. They are encouraged to report those wounded enemies and convince them to surrender as the army troopers will ensure their protection and proper medical attention.
Lieutenant Colonel Emerson P. De Vera, Commanding Officer of 65IB states that the latest incident is proof that the NPA rebels’ are trying to reclaim their lost mass base after their supporters have completely turned their backs on them. He also urged the CTGs to surrender and join their former comrades who have returned to the folds of the law. The Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) of the government is there to prepare them for their return to the mainstream of society.
