From Kalinaw News (May 31, 2021): DTI-Aurora grants livelihood kits to 21 former rebels

BALER, Aurora-The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Aurora Provincial Office grants livelihood kits to 21 former rebels (FRs) on Thursday, May 27, 2021, according to the top military official in this province.

Lieutenant Colonel Reandrew P. Rubio, Commander of 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion, 7th Infantry ” Kaugnay” Division, Philippine Army said in an interview that DTI-Aurora Provincial Director Aldrin Veneracion personally hand-over the starter kits livelihood worth Php147,000 to FRs at the 91st IB Headquarters, Barangay Calabuanan, Baler, Aurora as part of the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) Program of DTI.

Lieutenant Colonel Rubio said that 1st Lieutenant Roberto G Apelado Jr, Civil-Military Officer (CMO) of 91st IB and Mr. Aldrin Veneracion led the activity and assisted by PMAJ BARTOLOME ANTOLIN, FC 1PMFC the distribution to thirteen (13) FRs for “Bigasang Bayan”, six (6) for groceries and two (2) for “Kambingan” goat production livelihood packages.

The dispersal of livelihood assistance to former rebels is part of the DTI’s initiation of livelihood program aims to uplift and provide livelihood assistance to FRs.

This assistance for the former rebels is also part of the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) which has an objective to help the rebel surrenderers to go back to the community with proper livelihood to be able to live normally again.

“We are bringing the services of DTI, Philippine Army, other government agencies, and stakeholders to help the people affected by Covid pandemic including those former rebels who are now with us in the government,” Lieutenant Colonel Rubio said.

The battalion commander also expressed his sincerest thanks to DTI for the livelihood grant given to former rebels who continually start a new life.

“I encouraged our beneficiaries to properly manage the pangkabuhayan kit they received. Do your best to nurture the livelihood packages given to you by the government as a good start in building your future,” Lieutenant Colonel Rubio ended.
