CPP/Ang Bayan: Residents rally for aid in Congress

The 10K Ayuda Network picketed protest last May 17 in front of Congress in Quezon City to demand the immediate distribution of aid for all, implementation of the ₱10,000 Ayuda Bill, ₱100 daily wage subsidy, paid “leave” for Covid-19 positive workers, and a ₱15,000 subsidy for farmers. The mobilization was held in conjunction with the opening of session in Congress.

The group submitted to Rep. Stella Quimbo, principal author of the Bayanihan 3, the petition for aid which was signed by around 14,000 individuals.

The 10k Ayuda Network is an alliance of sectoral organizations launched on May 15 to demand another tranche of cash aid for families affected by the lockdown.

FIGHT VS. LAYOFF. Workers of the Alaska Milk Corporation in San Pedro, Laguna mounted two successive protests on May 17 and May 19 after the company management threatened mass layoffs. Alaska Milk is owned by Dutch multinational Royal FrieslandCampina.

FREE SASAH STA. ROSA! Youth groups protested in front of the Ateneo de Naga University, Main Campus in Naga City on May 14 to demand the release of Sasah Sta. Rosa of Jovenes Anakbayan, and urge university administration to support the call.
