Five soldiers of the Scout Platoon of the 61st IB were killed and five others were wounded in an ambush mounted by the NPA-Panay along the boundary of Miag-ao, Iloilo and Sibalom, Antique on May 15. The said military unit is reponsible for the massacre of the Tumandok 9 and the killing of John Farochilin, a barangay official and peasant leader in Miag-ao, last year.
