Hundreds of activists and farmers aboard 20 vehicles joined a caravan to accompany the ashes of Joseph Canlas back to his hometown in Arayat, Pampanga last May 14. Canlas, vice chairperson of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas, died early morning of May 11 due to complications caused by Covid-19. He was arrested on March 30 and was detained for two months in congested prison cells in Angeles City and City of San Fernando where he contracted the virus. Canlas was elderly and suffering from diabetes.
