CAMP HERNANDEZ, Dingle, Iloilo – The Army’s 12th Infantry (Lick’ Em) Battalion seized various firearms following series of encounters with the CPP-NPA Terrorist in Iloilo towns.

The recent encounter took place in Barangay Alabidhan, Bingawan, Iloilo in the early morning of Wednesday, April 07, 2021.

This was after the troops received reports from the civilian populace on the presence of armed communist terrorists passing through the village.

The brief encounter yielded two (2) homemade shotguns; two (2) magazines for a homemade shotgun with ten (10) round ammunition; magazine for 9mm pistol with 7 (seven) rounds of ammunition; four (4) rounds carbine ammunition; shrapnel for landmine; 15 meters electrical wire; two (2) backpacks; grocery items; two (2) hammocks; cooking pot; personal belongings; and, propaganda materials.

On Monday, April 05, the troops of 12IB also figured in a brief firefight with the members of NPA’s Baloy Platoon, Central Front Committee, Komiteng Rehiyon -Panay (KR-P) in Barangay Aglubong, Janiuay.

The five-minute encounter resulted in the recovery of one (1) M16 rifle; one (1) M203 Grenade launcher; one (1) M16 magazine with 28 rounds of ammunition; one (1) cellphone; one (1) backpack; one (1) commercial radio; one (1) hammock; three (3) pairs of slippers; two (2) rain boots; one (1) first aid kit, and civilian clothes. A temporary harbor site that can accommodate more or less 12 communist terrorists was also discovered after the encounter.

BGen Marion Sison, Commander, 301st Infantry Brigade lauded the community for the accurate information they have provided to the Army troops on the movement and location of the communist terrorists.

“This is an indication that the people are fed up with the presence and atrocities of the communist-terrorist group in their localities. With the people on our side, we are optimistic that we can put the decades-long cruelty of the CPP-NPA Terrorists to its end,” BGen Sison said.
