CALOOCAN CITY, Oct. 20 (PIA) --The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) bared the arrest of two (2) Abu Sayyaf Terrorist Group (ASG) members on October 12 & 19, 2020, in Pasay City.

In a news release posted posted on the agency’s Facebook Page @NationalBureauofInvestigationOfficial, NBI Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Director Eric B. Distor identified the subjects as JAMAR IBI y GARSULA a.k.a. “BAS” and RADEN JAMIL y JANING a.k.a. “TAMIYA”.

“Both were involved Jehova’s Witness Kidnapping in 2002 at Patikul, Sulu and were included in an Order of Arrest issued by the court for Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention with Ransom,” Distor said.

Distor said that the operation stemmed from an information received by the NBI-Counter-Terrorism Division (NBI-CTD) that certain Abu Sayyaf Members known as “Bas”, who served as a perimeter guard at the time of the kidnapping and “Tamiya” were sighted in Pasay City. Subjects Ibi and Jamil were positively identified by the witness from a photo line-up.

He emphasized that after a series of casing and surveillance operations conducted by NBI-CTD together with AFP counterparts, on October 12, 2020, NBI-CTD and NBI-Death Investigation Division (NBI-DID) together with AFP counterparts proceeded to the target area and successfully arrested Subject Ibi.

Based on the same intelligence report, another operation was conducted in Pasay City on October 19, 2020 by operatives of the NBI-CTD together with counterparts from the AFP that led to the apprehension of another member of the ASG, Tamiya.
