The provincial government of Lanao del Sur on Tuesday received boxes of medical equipment donated by the United States government to help front-liners in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Dr. Alinader Minalang, head of Lanao del Sur Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), said the equipment include thermometers, pulse oximeters, surgical gown, surgical mask, N95 mask, goggles, gloves, and face shields.
Minalang said the equipment will be distributed to the quarantine facilities in the municipalities, including the city and provincial quarantine facilities located in Marawi City.
“These supplies are of great help not just in uplifting the well-being of the Meranao-Filipino citizens of the province but also this act of kindness is a clear gesture of boosting the morale of our medical front-liners who serve selflessly as warriors in this Covid-19 pandemic,” Minalang said during the turnover inside the camp of the Philippine Army’s 103rd Infantry Brigade.
Col. Jose Maria Cuerpo, 103rd IBde commander, said the Army’s “partners from the US Embassy” personally delivered the items via helicopters that landed inside the military camp.
As of Tuesday, Lanao del Sur has a total of 441 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began in March. Presently, there are 65 active cases and 21 fatalities.
