ILOILO CITY, Sept. 20 (PIA) -- The Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion seized CPP-NPA Terrorist’s arms cache containing 12 various firearms at the vicinity of Sitio Bungao, Barangay Macagahay, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on Thursday, September 17, 2020.

The troops were responding on a report about the presence of armed communist-terrorists in the area doing extortion activities when they saw a suspicious person dropping his .38 caliber revolver after seeing the troops and ran away.

The incident prompted the troops to conduct pursuit operation that resulted in the apprehension of certain Joselito Ebarle.

While scouring the area, the troops found two M16 rifles, eight cal.38 revolvers, two homemade shotguns, one magazine of M14 with 10 rounds of live ammunitions, one back pack containing subversive documents, and one CPP-NPA flag inside the house of Ebarle.

Major General Eric Vinoya, 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division commander, said the seizure of arms cache of the CPP-NPA Terrorist is an indication of excess war material due to the dwindling number of communist-terrorists operating in Negros.

“The troops did not only inflict damage on the armed capability of the communist-terrorists but also prevented them to use the said firearms in casting terroristic activities,” Vinoya said.

As he thanked the people for their unwavering support to the Army by giving accurate and timely information, he also encouraged others to do the same to finally put the communist-terrorist group’s cruelty to its end.

“With the people backing us, we are optimistic that we can totally weaken not only the armed capability of the communist-terrorists, but also their will to fight,” Vinoya added. (PIA6/3ID-DPAO/PA)
