BUNAWAN DISTRICT, Davao City – 25 Former Rebels had completed the 14days Deradicalization Program on August 23,2020 conducted at Headquarters 3rd Infantry Battalion, Brgy. Malagos, Baguio District, Davao City. They originated from Toril, Paquibato, Tugbok, Marilog, Baguio and Calinan Districts all of Davao City and Kitaotao, Bukidnon. Some are former COs, Vice-COs, political instructor, medics, team leaders and squad leaders.
The Closing Ceremony was attended by BGEN NOLASCO A MEMPIN PA, 1003rd Brigade Commander; LTC VICTORINO SEÑO INF (GSC) PA, Battalion Commander, 27IB, 10ID PA; LTC DANNY BUSTAMANTE INF (GSC) PA, 10CMO Battalion Commander; LTC DONALD P GAFFUD INF (GSC) PA, EX-O 1003RD BRIGADE; MAJ LEO C ZALETA, EX-O, 3IB, 7ID, PA; PMAJ JAKE C GOLES, COP Calinan District with PCOL ANGEL SUMAGAYSAY (RET), PSSCC, Davao City as Guest of Honor and Speaker.
This Deradicalization program aims to educate and prepare the Former Rebels(FR) for their enrolment to the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) and to ensure that their radical/rebellious mind-set will be reversed prior to their as they return to the mainstream of society and become productive and law-abiding citizens.
PCOL SUMAGAYSAY assured the 25 FRs that the services and projects promised to them are mostly underway and will be implemented through this year and beyond. He also encouraged our brothers and sisters who are active members of the New People’s Army to go back to the mainstream society and avail of the services the government provide to its comstituents.
BGen Mempin expressed his gratitude to the Local Government of Davao City for its support to this Derad program and other projects for our FRs and vulnerable sectors that were deceived by the Communist Terrorist Groups. This collaborative efforts of all stakeholder partners under the guidelines of EO 70 or the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict which aims for a conflict-resilient and develop-ready communities in Davao City.
