CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – As had been projected by the leadership of Joint Task Force Central (JTFC), the surrenders of members of the BIFF terrorist group continue to manifest in the JTFC Joint Area of Operations (JAO).
Another 3 bandits of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) once again yielded to the 34th Infantry Battalion yesterday (April 29) at around 8:40 a.m. in Barangay Nabalawag, Midsayap, North Cotabato.The rebels were under Karialan faction under the command of late Mando Mamalumpong, the former Division Commander and spokesperson of the terror group.
The surrenderers were identified as Lanny Masaliday Salen a.k.a. Matyak, Rocky Kinal Paguital, and Abas Kambali Salem. The three also laid their arms and turned over one (1) Barret, one (1) M14, magazines and ammunition.
“The surrender of 3 BIFF members is the outcome of the effective collaboration between the military and the different stakeholders, coupled with intensified information dissemination that attracted these former rebels to embrace peace,” Lt. Col. Glenn Loreto T. Caballero, Commanding Officer of 34th IB under the 602nd Brigade said.
Maj. Gen Diosdado C Carreon, JTFC Commander, once again expressed his optimism that the latest surrenders of BIFF members will continue to entice others. “JTFC remains steadfast in its campaign to end terrorism in Central Mindanao while at the same time performing tasks to protect the community from COVID-19.
The surrenders are currently under the custody of 34th IB for debriefing and proper disposition.
