Nolcom Chief Lt. Gen, Ramiro Manuel Rey welcomed Santos while strictly practicing social distancing and other safety protocols as mandated by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

Santos inspected the emergency quarantine facility donated by San Miguel Corporation (SMC) President Ramon Ang at the Nolcom grounds, and the Department of Agriculture (DA) project “Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) Kontra sa COVID-19”, which is being undertaken in coordination with the AFP.

There was also the “Plant, Plant, Plant” program which seeks to revitalize the military’s gulayan (vegetable farm) project and urban agriculture to improve food adequacy level and food security amidst COVID-19 outbreak.

As most of NOLCOM’s area of responsibility transitions to a more relaxed general community quarantine (GCQ) starting on May 16, Santos ensured that Nolcom would do its to implement the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19.

He also encouraged all the soldiers and their families to abide by the rules of the “new norm” to avoid new cases of COVID-19 infection.

“Let us continue working together in performing our mission as one to fully secure the welfare of our people,” Santos said during his talk to the troops.
