The Philippine Navy (PN), with the assistance of other stakeholders, has distributed 2,034 family food packs (FFPs) donated by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to residents of four barangays in Parañaque City on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Lt. Commander Maria Christina Roxas, Navy public affairs office chief, in a statement late Wednesday, said the PN Civil-Military Operations Group was aided in this initiative by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Parañaque City local officials, 5th Army Reservists, and other civilian volunteers.
She added that FFPs were distributed to 2,034 households in Creek Drive 1 and 2 of Barangay Valley 8, Kabihasnan Coastal Road, Barangay San Dionisio, and Sitio Manggahan 1 & 2 in Barangay Merville benefited from the food packs that were part of the PHP250-million donation of the ADB intended to aid around 140,000 families in Metro Manila affected by the enhanced community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) outbreak.
Each FFP contained 35 various canned goods, 20 coffee sachets, 20 milk sachets, and 10 kilos of rice.
"The PN's active participation in endeavors like this is a realization of its mandate of being in the service of the Filipino people especially during these times of crisis," Roxas said.
