Kalinaw News: One member of the Abu Sayyaf Group yielded to military in Sulu

Posted to Kalinaw News (Apr 21, 2020): One member of the Abu Sayyaf Group yielded to military in Sulu (By 11th Infantry Division)



Mawallil Sayyadi, resident of Barangay Paugan, Parang, Sulu submitted himself to the troops of the 100th Infantry Battalion at the unit’s headquarters in Sitio Lawang-Lawang, Barangay Poblacion, Indanan, Sulu on April 17, 2020.

The surrenderor handed over one M16 rifle with one long and four short magazines and 78 rounds of ammunition; and one M79 grenade launcher with one round 40mm ammunition.

“This is a result of our relentless operations where the group suffered numerous casualties. Other members now fear for their lives, leading to the series of surrenders,” said Maj. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, JTF Sulu commander.

Sayyadi undergone custodial debriefing facilitated by the 100IB.

“We are working together with all our partners and stakeholders to destroy the terrorist groups in our area of operation,” said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, WestMinCom commander.

“We want to end all conflicts to pave way for peace and development especially in the island province of Sulu,” Lt. Gen. Sobejana added.
