PASIG CITY, April 22 (PIA) --Around 800 reservists of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have been deployed in Metro Manila amidst the enhanced community quarantine in place.

On Tuesday, AFP Spokesperson BGen Edgard Arevalo said that the AFP’s reservists are deployed in some parts of Metro Manila to provide assistance.

Arevalo said that around 500 are deployed in parts of Quezon City and Manila, while 300 are in Paranaque, Pasay, Taguig and Pateros.

He also said that the reservists volunteered themselves to provide assistance in their area, as well as provide assistance in relief operations, and in restoring discipline and order.

“They will be in complete military uniform and they will be under the command of regular members of the AFP,” said Arevalo.

Aside from the reservists’ force, regular members of the AFP are also on duty. Arevalo said that some local chief executives of Metro Manila have requested their assistance.

The AFP spokesperson also assured that the armed forces is bound to observe the law and uphold the law in the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine. (AFP/JTF NCR/PIA-NCR)
