CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Feb. 28 (PIA) – At least 800 high school students in this province attended a series of campus peace and development forum spearheaded by the Philippine Air Force – Tactical Operations Group (PAF – TOG) – 2 in partnership with the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army on Wednesday.
The forum aimed at discouraging the youth in joining rebel groups and other left-leaning organizations by presenting the many good programs and services of the government which the youth can avail of.
Air Force Lt. Col. Augusto Padua, commander of PAF-TOG -2 based in Cauayan City, said the series of forum that was conducted at Reina Mercedes Vocational and Industrial School and Luna National High School is part of the many lined-up activities to show support to President Rodrigo Duterte's whole-of-nation approach which created the National Task Force to End Local Armed Conlflict (NTF-ELCAC) in the country.
“We intend to visit school campuses and conduct forum to ensure that the youth are informed and will not be joining the communist rebels,” Padua said.
He said that last year, they already conducted same activity in various schools in its area of operations and will continue to conduct the same to provide the youth the necessary information they needed to counter the wrong ideologies of communist rebel organization.
Meanwhile, the PAF-TOG – 2 also conducted the Usapang Pangkapayapaan, Usapang Pangkaunlaran (UP,UP) – Isabela media forum to disseminate the different programs and services of different government agencies. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
