Cache of revolutionary materials, firearm and explosive device recovered from Sitio Ulingan, Manobo, Magpet (Photo from 72IB)
MAGPET, North Cotabato, Feb. 28 (PIA) --- Troops of 72nd Infantry (Gabay) Battalion, Philippine Army, retrieved firearm, improvised explosive, and subversive materials in a cache located at Sitio Ulingan, Brgy Manobo, Magpet, Cotabato Province on Wednesday.
Said operation was launched in response to information the soldiers received from concerned citizens.
With the help from Bagani members, the troops were able to recover one cal. 30 US Springfield rifle with defaced serial number and one International Humanitarian Law-banned improvised explosive device estimated to weigh one kilogram.
Also retrieved from the area were various communist terrrorist group educational materials including the following titles: Kasaysayan sa Pilipinas, Imperyalismo, Mga Hut-ong og Krisis sa Katilingbang Pilipino, Demokratikong Rebolusyon sa Katawhan, Batakang Kurso sa Partido, Pulitikanhong Ekonomiya, and Ang Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas, that the rebels use in recruitment activities.
Sources revealed that the war materials were left by a certain Alias Bryan, a member of Pulang Bagani Command, under the care of their trusted supporter in the said barangay.
Lt. Col. Rey Alvarado, commanding officer of 72nd Infantry Battalion, said the positive result in their recent operation clearly manifests that the people really want to put an end to the CTG influence in their area and achieve peace for their community.
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Gabriel C Viray III, commander of 901st Brigade, recognized the efforts of the operating troops as well as the support and cooperation of the civilians.
This endeavor, Brig. Gen. Viray emphasized, reflects the commitment of every soldier to achieve the decisive result of the anti-insurgency campaign of the government to preserve the lives of Filipino in the countryside.
He encouraged the remaining members of the CTG to surrender and embrace peace for the benefit of everyone.
“Instead of fighting the government, we urge them to part take in our peace efforts. We are always ready to extend our helping hands for them to return to the fold of the law, it is not yet too late for them to be in the mainstream and be with their respective families” Viray said.
