IMPASUGONG, Bukidnon, Nov 10 – The Local Government Unit of Cabanglasan and the 8th Infantry Battalion of the 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, dialogued with the children of Sitio Calacapan Barangay Canangaan, Bukidnon on November 10, 2019.

In response to the expressed desire of the young constituents, The LGU led personally by its Municipal Mayor led in the distribution of foodstuff and the conduct of a dialogue with the more or less 50 children believed to be affected by the NPAs’ exploitation.

Sitio Calacapan was identified by the security forces as the supply route of the NPAs and sometimes used as their resting place.

This engagement aimed to increase the awareness of the children about their rights and the importance of education.

The parents and elders also attended the activity.

Mayor Reynante Inocando stressed the importance of education to the IP children and encouraged them to go to school.

“You all have the right to attend school, there are many IPs who have already graduated and are performing well. I want you to be one of them someday.”

Inocando also pointed out to the community the role of the security forces, “They are our soldiers and our defenders from any threats, do not be scared because they are here to protect us.”

Meanwhile, the Philippine Army promoted the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program of the government to the communities. Said program is intended to help those members of the NPA who want to surrender and once again go back to mainstream society.

The Municipality of Cabanglasan and the 8th Infantry Battalion will continue its strong partnership in serving the constituents of Cabanglasan especially the children in whose hands lie the future of the country.
