PAGADIAN CITY – The Philippine Army’s 1st Infantry Division said it has activated the 11th Division Sniper Company as part of its campaign against rebel groups and terrorists in Western Mindanao.
Brigadier General Bagnus Gaerlan Jr., the acting division commander, said the new group is composed of five officers and 63 soldiers who are all snipers and rifle experts “that can shoot and neutralize targets or threat efficiently.”

“The 11th Division Sniper Company is highly-specialized force multiplier that
will provide sniping capability to the infantry battalions and can also conduct
reconnaissance and surveillance operation to the supported units,” Gaerlan said.
“The neutralization of local terrorist groups and other threats in our area of
operation will be easily achieved since they can shoot the targets proficiently,”
he added.
Gaerlan also assured full support on the operational and administrative needs
of the unit for the accomplishment of its tasks. (Zamboanga Post)
