CAMP BRIG. GEN. OSCAR M. FLORENDO, Parian, San Fernando City, La Union – Twenty-six New People’s Army rebels from Pangasinan surrendered to the authorities last Wednesday.

Police Brig. Gen. Joel S. Orduña, Ilocos police director, led the ceremonial turn-over and administered the oath of allegiance of the rebel returnees.


They manifested their recognition of the government and desire to become responsible members of the society during the event in last Wednesday in Mabini, Pangasinan.

The rebel returnees – five women and 21 men – received cash and livelihood assistance under the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Localized Integrated Program.

Orduña lauded the rebel returnees for their courage in embracing the government and the rule of law and cited significance of unity and peace and order in the development of the community.

“As good Filipino citizens, we should always remember that unity and peace is the best way towards the prosperous future of our community, there is nobody that enjoys living in warfare,” Orduña said.

He also said that despite the stiff and decisive stance of the PNP against the CPP-NPA, the PNP will gladly welcome them into the fold of the law to enjoy the blessings of democracy in a free state.
