The 11-day military maneuvers among Philippine, US, and Japanese Marine units, dubbed as "KAMANDAG 3", formally ended in a ceremony at the Acero Hall, Marine Barracks Rudiardo Brown, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on Friday.

About 900 members of the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC), 1,400 US troops, and 100 Japanese personnel participated in the series of maneuvers that began on October 9.

"KAMANDAG", short for "Kaagapay ng mga Mandirigma ng Dagat", is a Philippine-led military training exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and US Forces, with the Japan Ground Self Defense Force.

It focused on combined inter-operability events, capabilities development activities, and humanitarian assistance projects, PMC spokesperson Capt. Felix Serapio said.

It was held in the areas of Cavite, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Pampanga, and Palawan.

Live-fire exercises and amphibious landing operations were also conducted during the course of "KAMANDAG 3", along with cooperative health engagements, civil affairs interactions, and community relations events throughout Luzon. Participants also exchanged information on hygiene skills, life support, first response, and safety protocols. Religious ministry, primary education, and athletic events were also conducted.

Present during Friday's closing ceremonies were US 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade commander, Maj. Gen. Paul A. Rock; PMC deputy commandant, Brig. Gen. Ariel R. Caculitan; and JGSDF 2nd Regiment, Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade head, Col. Yoshikatsu Fujii; and Presidential Commission on the Visiting Forces Agreement executive director, Undersecretary Cesar Ramboanga Jr., who also served as guest-of-honor and speaker.

Quoting American poet Mattie Stepanek, Caculitan said “Unity is strength. When there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.”

“May this year’s KAMANDAG Exercise push us to new heights to ensure stronger partnership and collaboration in attaining our global objective of peace and stability,” he added.

Exercises like "KAMANDAG 3" strengthen international partnerships and forces’ ability to rapidly respond to crises throughout the Indo-Pacific.
