Through the efforts of the 37th Infantry Battalion troopers, two communist terrorist group members yielded at the Battalion headquarters in Sitio Adiz, Barangay Baranayan, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat at 9am yesterday, October 17, 2019.
Josie Mandaw Madagpog, male, 41, married; and Jessie Gango Madagpog, male, 31, married, both residents of Sitio Tower, Barangay Kiponget of same municipality, surrendered bringing along with them 1 Caliber .30 Garand Rifle with 2 magazine clips and 15 rounds of ammunition, and 1 shotgun with magazine and 2 rounds of ammunition.
“The two were both listed in our Periodic Status Report as members of the West Daguma Front,” said Col Wilbur C. Mamawag, Commander of the 603rd Infantry Brigade.
“Our ongoing Focus Military Operation in the area prompted them to yield and return to the mainstream of society,” said Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon, Commander of the Joint Task Force Central.
They are currently undergoing debriefing and documentation at the 37IB headquarters.
“While we intensify our operations in critical areas, Team WestMinCom continuously encourages peaceful mechanisms in addressing internal security concerns in Central and Western Mindanao,” said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, Commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
“Above all, our primordial concern is to end terrorism and violent extremism and bring about stability in our area of operation,” Lt. Gen. Sobejana added.
