A GPH-MNLF coordinating committee meeting was held at the Eisenhower Hall of the Western Mindanao Command on September 17, 2019, purposely to confer about the creation of a joint AFP-PNP-MNLF security coordinating committee for Sulu.



Present during the activity were the top officials of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process; AFP and PNP top officers led by the Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana of the Western Mindanao Command and Police Colonel Patrick Villacorte of the Police Regional Office-BARMM; Arthur Tabaquero, the Undersecretary of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Military Affairs; and representatives from the Moro National Liberation Front led by Chairman Yusoph Jikiri.



During the meeting, Datu Faizal Karon, the Head of the MNLF Security Committee, presented the MNLF Resolution for the recognition and activation of the MNLF anti-terrorism, kidnapping, illegal drugs Task Forces in Sulu and establishment of similar MNLF task force within and outside BARMM areas.



In his message, Lt. Gen. Sobejana said, “This meeting proposes to accommodate MNLF combatants to join the AFP and PNP to further enhance our security posture.”



“Western Mindanao Command will continue its commitment and dedication to serve our country and accomplish our assigned tasks,” Lt. Gen. Sobejana added.
