From the Western Mindanao Command (WESTMINCOM) Website (Sep 19, 2019): Troops seize firearms in Maguindanao
Several low-powered firearms were seized in a military operation in Datu Salibo, Maguindanao at dawn today, September 19.
Operating troops recovered one Caliber 9mm and two Caliber .45 pistols at Sitio Matilak in Barangay Butilen.
Said operation was launched by soldiers of 57th Infantry and 1st Mechanized Battalions at 5:15am today.
“Soldiers continue to secure areas where armed groups operate to sow terror and fear among the peace-loving people of Mindanao,” said Major General Diosdado Carreon, Joint Task Force Central Commander.
“Ground forces build up security operations as preemptive measures against threats posed by lawless groups in the operational area,” said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of Western Mindanao Command.
“The military also bolsters its campaign against loose firearms which are being utilized as tools of violence by lawless groups in Mindanao,” he added.
