U.S. Army Special Forces and Philippine security forces partnered for a joint training exercise at 6th Special Action Battalion Camp, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, from Aug. 26 to Sept. 20.
The four-week training, dubbed Badge Piston 19, focused on refining and developing the following disciplines: human rights, law of armed conflict, tactical combat casualty care, combat and sniper marksmanship, and rural and urban reconnaissance. The training included classroom instruction to facilitate an exchange of tactics, techniques, and procedures, and joint U.S.-Philippine practical exercises.
A total of 50 personnel from the Philippine National Police 6th Special Action Battalion, Philippine Army 79th Infantry Battalion, and 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), U.S. Army, participated in the training.
“Our partnership with U.S. forces participating in this exercise allowed us to share knowledge and skills that are very useful in the fight against terrorism. These four weeks of training developed a profound sense of camaraderie and brotherhood between both sides,” said Maj. John Mocyat Jr., Philippine National Police, 6th Special Action Battalion.
“This U.S.–Philippine joint training provided opportunities for both parties to exchange expertise and build interoperability, to increase mission success,” said the Detachment Commander of the U.S. forces.
The United States, as a longstanding friend, partner, and ally of the Philippines, continues to exchange expertise and train with Philippine security forces.
