CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The economic condition of 20 barangays in Misamis Oriental is seen to improve after it was declared free from affectation of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA).
The declaration was made by Provincial Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano upon the recommendation of Provincial Police Office Director Robert Roy Bahian during the activation of the Misamis Oriental Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MOTF-ELCAC) held September 26 at Sitio Moya, Barangay Eureka in Gingoog City.

The cleared barangays are Balintad and Binkilian in Manticao; Barangay Tula in Alubijid; Kauyunan in Opol; Eureka and Lawaan in Gingoog City; Pelaez and Pamburgas in Claveria; San Juan Blanco, Samay and Linabo in Balingasag; Banglay and Umagos in Lagonglong; Alipuaton, Bunal,Tinagaan, and Matampa in Salay; and Kalaitan in Kinoguitan.
Bahian said the successful clearing was a result of the months-long Community Support Program of 58th and 65th Infantry Battalions of the Philippine Army.
"They researched the issues used by the NPA against our government. Through their dedication, they made the communities aware of the help and support of the City Government of Gingoog and the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental," he said.
After the CSP, the barangays were evaluated by the clearing evaluation team of 403rd Infantry Brigade then validated by the 4th Infantry clearing board. (APB/PIA10)
