A high-ranking official of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday cited the partnership between various stakeholders and the police, through the Police Community Relations (PCR), in the peace and development campaign of the premier law enforcement agency.

Lt. Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa, deputy chief for operations of the PNP, commended the PCR for its contribution “in bringing the government closer to the people” through various medical-dental outreach programs.

“The maintenance of peace and order has become more elusive in the advancement of globalization and the incessant desire of various lawless elements such the CPP-NPA (Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army) to incite disorder within our communities and to corrupt the minds of the people, constraining them away from their government and towards their ideals of violence and insurgency,” Gamboa said in his message during the 24th PCR month awarding ceremony.

The event was held at the Police Regional Office (PRO-7) headquarters in Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr., this city.

Gamboa said it is only in the Duterte administration that the government has been able to enhance the propaganda against the terrorist groups through a task force aimed to end insurgency in the country.

Gamboa was referring to the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict created by President Rodrigo Duterte through Executive Order No. 70, which mandated the end of insurgency through the “whole of nation” approach.

He said the PNP needs the support of the people and the partnership with the various government agencies to further strengthen its effort in bringing the government closer to the people who are vulnerable to the beliefs of the communist terrorists.

Gamboa assisted PRO-7 Regional Director Debold Sinas in handing over plaque of appreciation to government agencies, such as the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, Central Command, Naval Forces Central, 302nd Infantry Brigade and 94th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, Department of Health, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7, and the Philippine Coast Guard Central Visayas District, among others.

He also pinned Medalya ng Ugnayang Pampulisya, Medalya ng Kagitingan, and Medalya ng Papuri to seven police officials and two police non-commissioned officers for their community relations program, buy-bust operations that resulted in confiscation of several grams of shabu, and anti-criminality operations.

The PNP’s second highest in command also cited the PRO-7’s conduct of medical missions to the outskirts of Negros Oriental, where different municipalities are still considered NPA hotspots.

He said the services provided to the people will make them feel that the government has existed and is ready to help them with their needs.

“Allow me to extend my gratitude to all stakeholders, organizations, private institutions, corporations and individuals for their unwavering support that led to the success of our efforts. Without such support, we will fall short of our peoples’ expectations,” Gamboa said.

“Allow me to invite you all to continue supporting the PNP and may we all unite towards attainment common goal and that is to give our children, grandchildren, and the next generation of Filipinos a much better country, one that is peaceful and prosperous,” he added.
