BUTUAN CITY -- With the aim to put a stop on the insurgency problem in the province of Surigao del Sur, the members of the poverty reduction, livelihood and employment cluster have launched the enterprise development and skills and livelihood programs for the former rebels and supporters of the rebel groups in Sitio Ibuan, Barangay Mampi, Lanuza, Surigao del Sur.

Along with it, beneficiaries also undergone the spiritual and values formation session.

According to Regional Director Ashary Banto of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), with the said program, it brings the government closer to the people particularly to the target beneficiaries, to ease their difficulty in going to other places to get the services.

Col. Cerilo Balaoro, Jr., deputy commander of 402nd Brigade, Philippine Army said, the initiated program seeks to address the main problem in the area, to include poverty and unemployment.

Also, Thelma Salazar, an Indigenous Peoples (IP) is thankful to the different government agencies for providing them their programs and services in their barangay.

Meanwhile, Surigao del Sur Governor Alexander Pimentel encourages the local residents to report to his office should they know anyone who wants to surrender, as the local government unit offers appropriate support for the former rebels who desire to live a normal life in the mainstream society.
