CAMP CAPINPIN, Tanay, Rizal – 234 new aspiring soldiers to compose the Candidate Soldier Course Classes 602 and 603–2019 took oath yesterday, June 3, 2019 to undergo a four-month rigid training at the 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division Training School (2DTS) in Camp Capinpin, Tanay, Rizal.

Brigadier General Elias H Escarcha, the acting 2ID Commander and the Keynote speaker led the ceremony.

BGen Escarcha added.
The opening ceremony culminated with the reception rites, a tradition in the Army where new recruits were received through a set of exercises to test their stamina and physical fitness.

Meanwhile today, June 4, 2019, the annual sportsfest of the Jungle Fighters kicked-off with four (4) different competing color teams composed of the different offices of 2ID.

Colonel Arnold M Macadangdang, Inspector General of the Division led the opening ceremony at the 2ID grandstand.

In his message, he said “I am excited and I look forward for this part of the year where we promote the virtues of teamwork and sportsmanship, where we practice our talents and skills aside from those we inherently have and must have as professional soldiers. Further, this event also emphasizes that as an organization of men and women who have pledge to serve and protect our nation, we could not compromise our health and we need productive activity to enhance this aspect of our well- being. One effective way of doing so is through engaging in sports.”

Sets of team building games commenced after the sportsfest was formally opened in the morning and after which different ball games were held in the afternoon.

The 2ID Sportsfest will end on June 18, 2019.
