CAMP PERALTA, Jamindan, Capiz -- The top official of the 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) of the Philippine Army reminded soldiers to always do tasks in the best of their capabilities, as the division celebrates its 45th founding anniversary on Wednesday.

Major General Dinoh Dolina, commander of the 3ID, took pride of the soldiers under the division for their incessant hard work to fight insurgencies in its jurisdiction in Western and Central Visayas

“Operationally, we have done our best despite the forces available in the Panay Island. We cleared areas that used to be their (New People’s Army rebels) safe haven,” Dolina said in an interview Wednesday afternoon.

As commander of the division, he said one of the missions he set to accomplish is to make sure that the welfare of the personnel is given due.

He said the soldiers are always reminded “to do their job and do it well” and to make sure the tasks they do contribute to the over-all vision of the command.

With the celebration of its anniversary, Dolina said there were latest additions to the facilities in this camp.

New facilities include the firing range, classrooms, VIP rooms, and transient rooms.

The firing range, as one of an important facility needed for a camp, was widened and improved.

“The firing range will help our soldiers to be more adept in their shooting abilities. The firing practice for our soldiers to become sharp shooters will be provided by the said facility,” he said.

The classrooms, meanwhile, will be utilized for the learning needs of the soldiers.

In addition, soldiers, their family members, and even VIP guests need not worry about rushing home in case they have tasks to render at the camp as the 3ID now have transient units and rooms for VIPs.

“We know that our place here is far from town. The rooms will therefore be made available for guests to stay,” he said.

Unlike the previous years, the celebration of the 3ID’s 45th anniversary was held “simple but meaningful.”

Dolina said that the division avoided the celebration to be tainted with any political color especially this election season.

“The simplest in doing it is we inculcate to look for the past to find horizon in the future,” he said.
