An Abu Sayyaf terrorist and a soldier were killed while five other soldiers were wounded as another encounter between the ASG and Scout Rangers of Joint Task Force (JTF) Sulu transpired at Sitio Bud Kaha, Brgy. Maligay, Patikul, Sulu, on Monday morning.

(MANILA BULLETIN)

Armed Forces of the Philippines-Joint Task Force (AFP-JTF) Sulu Commander Brig. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, said the clash erupted at about 11:45 a.m.

Sobejana said troops were continuously doing security, search and rescue for the freedom of their kidnap victims resulting in an encounter with undetermined number of ASG members.

He said the initial result of the encounter accounts for one ASG killed (body count); two high-powered firearms recovered and several other war paraphernalia and abundant supplies/foodstuff seized.

On the government side, one soldier was killed in action (KIA) and five were wounded.

Sobejana said prior to the encounter, the troops discovered three hastily buried cadavers believed to be the ASG fatalities in Sunday’s encounter.

“We are now in the process of checking the identity of those cadavers,” Sobejana said.
