A captured New People’s Army amazon was also involved in a robbery incident, and in threatening a barangay chairman and two others last month in Brgy. Panciao, Manjuyod, Negros Oriental, an Army spokesman disclosed.
Capt. Ruel Llanes, 303rd Infantry Brigade spokesman, yesterday said that Myles Albasin, who was among the six rebels captured by the 62nd Infantry Battalion last week during an encounter in Mabinay, Negros Oriental, was among those involved in the ransacking of the house of Panciao barangay chairman Mario Gonzales, and took a shotgun and 357 revolver from his residence.
Gonzales was presiding over the session of barangay council members in the place on Feb. 16 last month, when the armed suspects barged in, and threatened Gonzales, barangay tanod chief Andoy Balderas and former government militiaman Anoy Catubig, who were ordered to leave the barangay within 24 hours.
The incident was recorded by Albasin, in some of the documents recovered at the encounter site, together with the six high-powered firearms and explosives, Llanes said.
Gonzales is being encouraged by the Philippine Army to press charges against Albasin and her companions.
On the other hand, an organization calling itself Nagkahiusang Kusog Estudyante, that came to the rescue of Albasin, dismissed as a publicity stunt claims of the Armed Forces of the Philippines that she and her five companions was arrested in a successful military operations.
National Democratic Front spokesman Frank Fernandez maintained in a statement he issued that no encounter had taken place.
