From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Aug 18): NORMAL SITUATION | 7 Brgy in Marawi to be opened to the public on Aug 22
MINDANAO (DWDD) – The Armed Forces of thePhilippines, through the Joint Task Force Marawi will be allowing residents to return to their homes in seven (7) barangays in Marawi City.
This was confirmed by LTC Emmanuel Garcia of JTF Marawi, who stated that the said barangays is situated around the Mindanao State University campus in Marawi City.
They will be allowing residents to go back to the seven barangays on august 22 to coincide with the start of classes at MSU. To help normalize the situation, the MSU community, the Local Government Unit, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and management Office, the AFP, and the PNP conducted Brigada Eskwela.
Garcia added that they need to protect the well-being MSU and its community because the school is considered as an institution an symbol fo the city.
Regaining control of MSU was a big challenge for authorities, but they exhausted all effort to bring normalcy back to the city. AES / MCAG
