From Update Philippines (Jul 19): GLOCK supplier’s offer to supply military 74 thousand pistols declared as lowest bid
Trust Trade, the sole authorized distributor of GLOCK in the Philippines was declared as the lowest bidder during today’s Bid Submission and Opening for the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) 9mm Striker Fired Pistol acquisition project.
“Trust Trade declared the lowest bidder, which bid Php60 million lower than the second lowest bidder Intrade Asia Pacific, and Php130 million lower than the 3rd lowest bidder Precision Munitions,” MaxDefense Philippines said.
CZ USA was disqualified for tendering a bid with amount higher than the approved budget.
MaxDefense said in its article that AFP’s 9mm Striker Fired Pistol acquisition project has an Approved Budget for Contract (ABC) of PHP1.497 billion for 74,861 units of pistols.
Trust Trade offered the Glock 17 Gen 4. Intrade offered the SIG Sauer P320, and Precision Munitions offered the Beretta APX.
Post Qualification Inspections of Trust Trade/GLOCK and Glock 17 Gen 4 will follow.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is an active user of Glock 17 Gen 4 pistol.
President Rodrigo Duterte has been vocal about his vision of providing every soldier a pistol as extra firearm and to defend themselves from NPAs whenever they are not carrying a long firearm.
On July 18, the President handed over to AFP 3000 units of Rock Island Armory 1911 .45 caliber pistols from Arms Corporation of the Philippines (Armscor).
The military is also acquiring approximately 60,000 units of .45 caliber pistol through .45 caliber Hammer Fired Pistols acquisition project.
These acquisitions are still part of revised AFP Modernization Program First Horizon which started 2013 and will end this year.
