FORT ANDRES BONIFACIO, Metro Manila (DWDD) – The Philippine Army has installed new leaders to the Office of the Army Internal Auditor, Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, G1, and Army Adjutant during the Joint Change of Chiefs of Office ceremony held here on Monday, May 22, 2017.
The new chiefs of office are Brig. Gen. Gavin D. Edjawan replacing Col. Edgar P. Nigos who served as the Acting Chief Army Internal Auditor; Col. Ramil M. Bitong who replaced Col. Ernesto C. Torres Jr as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, G1; and lastly, Col. Albert G. Baybayan who replaced Col. Luis Vincent A. Tacderas as the Army Adjutant.

Edjawan is a member of PMA “Sinagtala” Class of 1986. He served as the Commanding Officer of 51st Infantry Battalion in 2006; Commanding Officer of the 37th Infantry Battalion, 6th Infantry Division, PA in 2008; Chief of the Army Resource Management Office in 2013; and the Assistant Division Commander of 9th Infantry Division, PA in 2016. He was also the Deputy Director of Army Modernization and Project Management in 2010. He is not new to the tasks of the Army Internal Auditor because of his experience in auditing and resource management.

Bitong is a member of the PMA “Makatao” Class of 1989. His military career began when he became the Platoon Leader of Charlie Company, 52nd Infantry Battalion, 8th Infantry Division, PA in 1990. Later on, he took higher posts such as the Chief of Staff of Defense Intelligence Security Group, Department of National Defense in 2005; Commanding Officer of 11th Infantry Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, PA in 2010; and Deputy Commander of the 301st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, PA early this year.

Lastly, Baybayan entered the military service in 1985 and has acquired his Masters in Education from Harvardian Colleges in 2006. He has been designated several notable positions such as the Department Head of Adjutant General Service Department, Combat Service Support School, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), PA in 2003; and Commanding Officer of Headquarters and Headquarters Support Group, Southern Luzon Command, Armed Forces of the Philippines in 2013. He also served as the Executive Officer of Office of the Army Adjutant, PA in 2014 making him suitable to his current post.

On the other hand, the outgoing chiefs of office were also assigned to new posts. Nigos resumed his post as the Deputy Army Internal Auditor. Tacderas is the new Chief, Armed Forces of the Philippines Pension and Gratuity Management Center and Torres is the Commander of the Army’s 1003rd Brigade, 10th Infantry Division. OACPA / MCAG
