New People's Army propaganda statement posted to the Communist Party of the Philippines Website (May 22): 403rd Brigade spreads fake news

The Mt. Kitanglad Subregional Command of the New People’s Army belies the fake news being spread by 1st Lt. Norman Tagros, 403rd Brigade spokesperson, regarding the encounter which occured in Sumilao, Bukidnon where three NPA members were allegedly killed. The fake news was released after the NPA’s successful dismantling operation of equipment owned by Del Monte subcontractors in Km. 24, Don Gregorio Pelaez, Claveria, Misamis Oriental on May 19 at around 10:10 a.m.
The encounter being referred to by Lt. Tagros occured last May 13 in Brgy. Licoan, Sumilao, Bukidnon. A squad under the Mt. Kitanglad Subregional Command detected the presence of a platoon under the 1st Special Forces Battalion (SFB) which was conducting combat operations. As the NPA unit were appraised of the soldiers’ presence, they were able to rapidly launch an ambush. Four soldiers of the 1st SFB died and five were wounded while the NPA sustained no casualties and were able to withdraw safely. Licoan residents know the truth of the incident as they were tasked to retrieve the dead and wounded soldiers.
The 403rd Bde and 1st SFB attempted to hide this incident from the public. But because of the paralization of Del Monte vehicles on May 19, they manufactured the story to make it appear that they are successful in defending Del Monte and other multinational corporations from NPA attacks. It can be remembered that the 1st SFP were deployed in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon to defend the Del Monte plantation after the NPA successfully raided its compound in Camp Phillips, Brgy. Agusan Canyon, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon last February 19, 2013.
The 1st SFB are rabid guards of multinational corporations in Bukidnon which are engaged in grabbing lands from the Lumad and whose operations destroy the environment and cause massive flooding of polluted waters towards Cagayan de Oro during rainy season.
The revolutionary movement is consistent in its stand against the expansion of multinational plantations which destroy the environment and the people and is determined to fight its defenders, the fascist elite forces of the 1st Special Forces Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
