THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas director said they have not monitored the presence of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) members in Cebu and other provinces in the region.
 
PRO-Central Visayas Director Noli Taliño said police directors were instructed to continue monitoring for any suspicious individual, especially with the ongoing Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) meeting in Cebu.
 
Taliño added that all intelligence units form different law enforcement agencies are also monitoring the areas.
 
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II announced to the media Thursday, April 6, the arrest of two suspected members of ISIS.
 
The couple, Kuwaiti national Husayn Al-Dhafiri and his Syrian wife Rafah Sina, were arrested last March 25 by the Bureau of Immigration-Fugitive Search Unit, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Philippine National Police in Taguig City.
 
Aguirre said they were informed by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation about Al-Dhafiri's links with the ISIS.
 
 Sometime in January 2017, Al-Dharifi stayed in Cebu for three days and in Davao City for four days.
 
Taliño said they will help in the investigation, to check the suspected terrorist's activities in Cebu.
