The Philippine Navy with its Gregorio del Pilar-class frigate BRP Andres Bonifacio (FF17) has participated in international maritime exercise in Malaysia. The maritime exercise, LIMA 2017 Sea Exercise (LSX) was conducted March 26 off an island near Langkawi, Malaysia.
The maritime drills was conducted as part of Langkawi International Maritime Aerospace (LIMA). LIMA is one of the most influential exhibitions in Asia since this is a dedicated maritime and aerospace exhibition for defense, civil and commercial aviation, shipbuilding and ship repair.

BRP Andres Bonifacio public affairs unit said FF17 was one of the 20 participants in LSX which included United States, Italy, Thailand, Australia, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Japan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia.
“Naging tampok nga pagsasanay na ito ang Maritime Interdiction Operations (MIOP) nakung saan nagpakitang gilas ang ating mga mandaragat na kasapi ng Naval Special Operations Group (NAVSOG) at mga kasapi ng FF17 sa pagsasanay ng mabilis at epektibong Visit, Board and Search, Seizure (VBSS),” FF17 public affairs said.
“Isang matagumpay na pagdalo at pagsasanay ang ipinapaabot ng mga katipunerong mandaragat at mandirigma ng FF17 para sa ating mga kababayan,” it added.
