Judge to hear motion filed by Sema in Roxas blast in April

From the Mindanao Times (Mar 16): Judge to hear motion filed by Sema in Roxas blast in April

THE REGIONAL Trial Court (RTC) Branch 33 postponed the hearing on the urgent motion to quash warrant of arrest filed by Mohammad Abdul Jabbar Sema, the son of a ranking Moro National Liberation Front (MILF) leader, in connection to the terrorism case lodged against him.

Presiding Judge Lope Callo rescheduled the hearing to April 19 to allow the prosecution to comment on the motion filed by Sema through his legal counsel, Ricardo H. Moreno.

In the same case, Callo is set to resolve the motion to drop and/or discharge the case against Ausa Abdullah Mamasapano and Jackson Mangulas Usi.

Mamasapano and Usi executed extra-judicial confessions, which became the basis of prosecutors to recommend for violation of Sec. 3 (terrorism) of Republic Act 9374 (Human Security Act) and multiple murder with multiple attempted murder under the Revised Penal Code against the 14 accused.

According to the extra-judicial confessions of Mamasapano and Usi, Sema was the one who suggested to bomb Davao City because the incumbent President is from the said city, and to compel the government to reduce the military forces in Basilan to fight the Abu Sayyaf Group.

Meanwhile, the motion to determine probable cause and motion to dismiss on the ground of lack of probable cause filed by Sema for the multiple murder with multiple attempted murder is still pending.
