From the Philippine News Agency (Feb 8): Rifle grenades found in cornfield in Pangasinan town
The police here are puzzled over the discovery of six pieces of rifle grenade and one piece of M25A2 riot control grenade in a cornfield in Barangay Namagbagan, Sta. Maria at about 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The explosives were discovered by a concerned citizen who reported these to Namagbagan Barangay Chairman Conrado Macaraeg, who subsequently turned these over to the Sta. Maria Police Station.
The police are now checking on who owns these grenades and how they were brought to the cornfield in Barangay Namagbagan.
Many believed these are from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) but there were wild speculations alleging that they belong to the communist New People's Army (AFP).
As to why these were brought in the cornfield in Sta. Maria town is still a puzzle to local authorities.
