From the Philippine Information Agency (Feb 14): Government troops overrun suspected NPA camp in Ifugao
Government troops overran a suspected New People’s Army(NPA) camp at sitio Pinugao, Brgy Namal here after an encounter night of February 12.
Soldiers from the 54th Infantry Battalion recovered a power generator set, bullets for AK 47 and M-16 rifles, three laptop computers, two rifle grenades, one roll of undetermined length of detonating cord, several pieces of blasting caps, assorted medical supplies and paraphernalia, pile of foodstuffs and personal belongings.
The NPA members reportedly belonged to the Nona del Rosario Command of the Ilocos-Cordillera Regional Committee.
One soldier was wounded in the gun battle that lasted for about an hour, the Army reported.
Lt Col Nicolas J Quemado Jr, 54th IB commander, appealed to the rebels to let their wounded comrades be treated army doctors.
“We are appealing to the rebels to help us help their wounded comrades. They can tap the soldiers or leave their wounded members in the community for them to be evacuated by helicopters. Our differences should not stop us from helping each other, after all, we are all Filipinos. ”Quemado added.
