TWO NEW People’s Army amazons returned to the folds of the law following a community dialogue initiated by 67th Infantry Battalion in Caraga, Davao Oriental on Friday, Feb. 10.
Meanwhile, soldiers from the 60th Infantry Battalion engaged communist rebels in a firefight in Laak, Compostela Valley on the same day.
Capt. Rhyan Batchar, spokesperson of 10th Infantry Division, identified the two amazons only by their aliases as Joy, 20, and Rose, 17, and both members of Guerilla Front 15.
The soldiers of 67th IB have just finished talking to the 150 displaced families temporarily housed in Caraga municipal gymnasium when the two NPA amazons approached them.
The displaced families from Barangays Don Leon Balante and PM Sobrecarey of Caraga, Davao Oriental earlier left their homes due to NPA presence in their communities.
Earlier, six NPA members already surrendered in Davao Oriental through the 67IB, while two others yielded to the 73IB in Davao Occidental.

The latest surrender brought the total of rebel returnees to 10.
