Army ensures security in Negros Island Region despite pullout of troops

From the Philippine News Agency (Aug 16): Army ensures security in Negros Island Region despite pullout of troops

The Philippine Army has assured Negrenses that the scheduled pull out of the 11th Infantry Battalion from Negros Island Region will not affect its internal security operations.

Second Lt. Ma. Revekka Roperos, public information officer of 303rd Infantry Brigade, said about 400 soldiers of the Negros Oriental-based 11th IB will be deployed to Mindanao anytime soon.

The troops, headed by Lt. Col. Eugene Badua, are based in Guihulngan City.

They will beef up forces in the Western Mindanao Command headquartered in Zamboanga City, Roperos said.

She added that the transfer of the 11th IB will not affect the security operations in the region as remaining troops will continue to conduct Bayanihan activities in the communities.

The army detachment will remain in Guihulngan City, which will be manned by combined forces of the 62nd IB and 79th IB.

The other remaining battalion under the 303rd Battalion is the 47th IB based in Negros Occidental.
