PNP chief expected CPP would no longer join govt’s anti-drug war

From the Philippine News Agency (Aug 16): PNP chief expected CPP would no longer join govt’s anti-drug war

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Dir. Gen. Ronaldo “Bato” dela Rosa, said Tuesday he has already expected that the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) would no longer participate in the government’s all-out war on illegal drugs.

The national police chief was commenting on the statement of the CPP that they will no longer join the anti-drug campaign, alleging that what the PNP is doing is “anti-people”.

”Expected ko naman yan na ganun ang magiging reaction nila (I have already expected that it would be their [CPP] reaction),” dela Rosa said.

”They have to maintain their relevance, dahil kapag sige lang sila sabay sabay sa amin, mawala yung kanilang relevance (because if they [CPP] simultaneously wage the war against illegal drugs, their relevance would be lost),” he added.
